Frequently Asked Questions About RAMS AI
Answers to common questions about RAMS AI, our safety document modules, credit packs, team features, data security, and CDM 2015 compliance.
- What is RAMS AI?
- RAMS AI is a cloud-based platform built by United Applications Ltd that helps construction professionals create Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) along with other safety documents. It uses AI to speed up the writing process while keeping everything aligned with UK CDM 2015 regulations.
- Who is RAMS AI designed for?
- The platform is designed for principal contractors, subcontractors, site managers, health and safety officers, and anyone responsible for producing construction safety documentation in the UK.
- Do I need any special software or hardware to use RAMS AI?
- No. RAMS AI runs entirely in your web browser, so you can use it on any computer, laptop, or tablet with an internet connection. There is nothing to install.
- Is RAMS AI compliant with UK regulations?
- Yes. Every template and AI suggestion is aligned with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and UK health and safety best practice. The platform's hazard library is based on recognised UK standards.
- Who is United Applications Ltd?
- United Applications Ltd is a British software development company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16955835). We specialise in building compliance-focused business tools, and RAMS AI is our flagship product.
- What types of documents can I create?
- RAMS AI supports five core document types: RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), Construction Phase Plans (CPP), COSHH Assessments, Toolbox Talks, and Site Inductions. Each module has its own guided wizard. You can learn more about each module on our RAMS Generator, CPP, COSHH, Toolbox Talks, and Site Inductions pages.
- How does the AI help me write documents?
- The AI can generate method statement content based on the work activities you describe, suggest relevant hazards and control measures, check your document for inconsistencies, and recommend appropriate permits. You remain in full control and can edit everything the AI produces.
- Can I reuse content across multiple documents?
- Yes. Documents are organised under jobs and clients, so you can build up a library of work over time. The hazard library lets you save custom items for quick reuse across future documents.
- How does digital sign-off work?
- When your document is ready, you can collect digital signatures from operatives. They draw their signature directly on a phone or tablet screen, removing the need for printed paperwork. Signed-off documents are locked and stored as a permanent record.
- Can I export or print my documents?
- Yes. All documents can be exported as professionally formatted PDFs that are ready for submission to clients, principal contractors, or regulatory bodies. You can also download free blank templates to fill in by hand.
- Is RAMS AI free to use?
- Yes — creating and previewing documents is always free, with no monthly fee. When you are ready to issue a document for live use (print, share, sign off, or send), you activate it using a credit. Your first three sample activations are free, so you can see the full output before spending anything.
- How do credits work?
- Credits are used only when you activate a document version for live use. Most documents (RAMS, COSHH, Toolbox Talks, Site Inductions) use one credit; higher-complexity documents like Construction Phase Plans and Lifting Plans use more. Credits are available as a Pay As You Go pack (300 credits, £29.97) valid for 180 days — no subscription required. Or choose RAMS AI Professional (£39.97/month) for 25 document activations included per month. See the Plans & Pricing page for details.
- Do credits expire?
- Credits purchased in a pack expire 180 days (six months) after purchase. Enterprise-allocated credits do not expire by default.
- What is the enterprise option?
- Enterprise is suitable for larger teams or organisations that need admin-managed credit allocation, custom commercial rates, and team-level reporting. Enterprise organisations receive a monthly credit allocation and have access to additional admin controls. Contact us to discuss enterprise arrangements.
- Do I need a credit card to start?
- No. You can create an account, build documents, and use your three free sample activations without providing any payment details. Credit card details are only required when you choose to purchase a credit pack.
- Can multiple people work on the same account?
- Yes. Team features allow you to invite colleagues to your organisation. You can configure access levels for each team member. Enterprise accounts include dedicated admin controls for managing team credit allocation.
- Is there a limit on team members?
- Self-serve accounts can add team members and share a credit wallet. Enterprise accounts offer custom seat and credit allocation configured to match your organisation's needs.
- How does document sharing work?
- Documents can be shared within your organisation. The platform tracks who created and last edited each document, and includes an audit log so you always know what changed and when.
- Can I send sign-off links to operatives by text message?
- Yes, on Enterprise plans. As well as email and QR codes, finalised documents can be sent to operatives' mobiles by SMS, including sign-off reminders. SMS is switched on and configured by your RAMS AI account manager, and each organisation gets a monthly text allowance. Recipients can reply STOP at any time to opt out.
- Is my data secure?
- Yes. RAMS AI uses industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session management, and database-level encryption. We never share your data with third parties.
- Do you offer two-factor authentication?
- Yes. Two-factor authentication (2FA) using authenticator apps is available on all accounts for an extra layer of account security.
- Where is my data stored?
- Your data is stored on secure, managed cloud infrastructure. As a UK company, we take data protection seriously and operate in compliance with UK data protection requirements, including the UK GDPR. For more information, see ICO UK GDPR guidance.
